Fall 2006 - Mimi Jensen wins Traveler Overseas magazine's Reader Photo Contest. "In painting, I translate what I see or imagine, but photography, for me, is just happening upon perfection. When I came upon this scene on Crete, it had already composed itself for me - the early morning sun casting that deliciously strong shadow, the saturated color we all associate with Greece, even the wobbly position of the chair on the right. Perfect! In my still life paintings, I compose the scene I will paint. But a scene like this one is so perfect that it couldn't possibly be improved by painting it." - Mimi Jensen "The editors of Traveler Overseas magazine congratulate Mimi Jensen of San Francisco." |
